April 21 Topic: Aliens and Naturalization, by Bobbi King
Immigration from the early 1600s into the 20th Century initiated laws and regulations that determined the records we discover today for our immigrant ancestors. This talk connects the immigration and naturalization laws with the records generated and the information they contain.
Bobbi King has been doing genealogy for 20 years. She’s been a member of local societies since the beginning, as a learner and volunteer. Bobbi was born and raised in Nebraska, where her great-grandparents were homesteaders. She focuses her research on homestead records and has written about and lectured about land records over the past several years. More recently, she served as chair of the Council committee that presented the Society Management Workshop. She is the book review editor for Eastman’s Online Genealogy Newsletter, attends the RootsTech conferences, and speaks locally on a variety of topics.
